Browsing the gallery of Suzie and Peter's wedding, it's clear these two adore each other. With so many laughs and looks of love shared, the newlywed's day beautifully complements their personalities. Suzie and Peter's gorgeous inner-city wedding is a testament to knowing and championing your individual style.
How They Met
We love the story of Suzie and Peter's first date. Back in 2018, the two met for a date at La Macelleria Gelateria. "The question of the night wasn’t what to wear but what to order! I would only have a short window to make an impression, so I couldn’t just order vanilla. I called my sister for advice and after much deliberation we settled on pistachio. I knew it was meant to be when Peter, who ordered before me, asked for pistachio! Now every year on our anniversary we get a pistachio ice cream."
The Proposal
We think Suzie received a classic rom-com style proposal from Peter. "We have now been together 4 years. To propose, Peter re-enacted our first date in Teneriffe. We went to dinner at our favourite little Japanese place, got an ice cream and walked along the Brisbane River. We got to the bench where we had our first kiss and Peter got down on one knee! It was perfect."
Style and Theme
Suzie and Peter wanted a wedding that was glamorous, elegant and luxurious. "Peter and I love to wine and dine so our wedding had to include our favourite things: Fine dining, sea food, champagne and live music! We are city people and we wanted our photography to show that fun city vibe.
Saying Yes to the Dress
Before coming to her appointment, Suzie had planned a full day of wedding dress shopping with her sister and Mum. With bookings at multiple bridal stores planned, White Lily was first on the list! "I knew I wanted to try on the gorgeous Sedna by Pronovias, that was my first choice. The gown is crafted in pure mikado and features an enormous off-the-shoulder sleeve with a full skirt. I walked out and both my sister and mum were in tears. It. Was. The. Dress." Although Suzie was sure she'd found her gown, she tried on another her Mum had selected - Jovani by Stella York. "That dress was exactly what I always imagined I would wear on my wedding day. The dress is an elegant mermaid style gown with a rounded train. It hugged my curves in all the right places. I was in love...again!" So now Suzie had a dilemma, two gowns but only one wedding. So what did she do? "I couldn’t stop thinking about that big princess style skirt on the Sedna dress. We left White Lily, cancelled all our other appointments and discussed our two options over a glass of champagne." And what did Suzie end up going with? "How could I decide?! The only sensible thing for a girl to do, was to buy them both!" Now Suzie had both a ceremony and reception gown sorted. When talking about her appointment itself, Suzie was so generous with her feedback. "It was fun and exciting, we had champagne and music! Our dressing area was private and there was a huge selection of gowns. Our assistant was fantastic at picking different styles that would suit my body type. Although I felt I know what I wanted she made some very helpful suggestions. In the end, it was my first and only stop for my beautiful bridal gowns."
Favourite Memory
We know it's hard to pick one, so here are Suzie's favourite moments of the day. "Seeing Peter’s face when I walked up the aisle. Our personalised wedding vows. The fabulous Moet champagne tower. Wonderful speeches. Dancing. Having so many beautiful family members and friends with us." Another stand out was when Suzie, Peter and their bridal party went off for photos after the ceremony. They drove around the city in a limo, drinking champagne and took some amazing shots in the city and around Kangaroo Point Cliffs.
Vendors
"We need to give a huge shout out to our fantastic photographer, Ben Clark! His photos were everything we imagined they would be. Ben was highly professional and so easy to work with." Suzie sung high praise for the couple's vendors who brought their vision to life. "The Lussh is a spectacular venue. Moo Moo 2 You has the best cuisine in Brisbane. My exquisite wedding cake was created by Liv Sweetly Cakes. Dolci & Co provided their gelato cart (and of course we had pistachio flavour). Blooms by Bridie gave me the perfect colour scheme. The girls from Blush and Bangs came to our apartment and were wonderful with hair and makeup. Nick Trovas Band were just fantastic. And Clarah Luxford - literally the best celebrant ever! I cannot recommend her more highly."
Advice for Future Brides
Have a detailed plan of everything you envision happening. Don’t make assumptions that other people know what you want. Communication is important. At the same time, be flexible enough to go with whatever happens on the day, because there will always be some little things that will have to be changed. Just go with it, and enjoy!
