Jenna and Richard’s Summergrove Estate garden ceremony was everything the bride and groom had ever wanted on their wedding day. Set in the lush scenic backdrop of the Tweed Coast hinterland, the marriage of Jenna and Richard was made even more special by the presence of the couple’s friends and family - with many even travelling from overseas. Jenna was especially grateful to have her Mum and Dad both walk her down the aisle.
Jenna and Richard’s love story began from what some may call fate. Jenna recalled for us how they met. It was “A night out in Broadbeach (actually early hours of the morning haha) just over 5 years ago!” She said. Despite her reluctance, Jenna had been dragged out for a night by her girlfriends. That night Jenna met Richard, who had been travelling in Australia from New Zealand for only one month. After that, Richard moved to Australia and a night with the girls turned into a night Jenna will never forget.
Fast forward a little while and the two began planning their wedding! They focused on putting the budget towards the areas where it mattered most and saving when they could easily DIY. “It’s so easy to get wrapped up in all the wedding planning, everyone wants their day to be perfect,” said Jenna, “Pinterest was full of inspiration, but the cost of it all definitely adds up, so we tried to save in certain areas if we could.” The couple were ecstatic with the results and the photos speak for themselves! Their choice of venue, Summergrove Estate, was the perfect place to hold both the wedding ceremony and reception. Not only did the venue boast gorgeous panoramic ocean and valley views, but it meant that there was no hassle of travelling between venues on the day. “Everything went so smoothly thanks to the most amazing vendors- we lucked out big time there, we couldn’t recommend them all enough- very grateful!”
The couple styled much of the day themselves – laying each table setting and topping it off with a gorgeous printed menu by Little Green Leaf. They also made their ceremony location pop with a custom arbour. “Rich made our arbour and signage stands etc. (as he’s a builder and handy like that!) and the styling of the tables, flowers, my dress etc. was very much me.”
Before the wedding, Jenna was immediately drawn to her gown. Our White Lily bride looked flawless in the figure-hugging crepe mermaid gown Erandi by Pronovias. The gown features an ornately embellished plunging bodice, trimmed with beaded lace appliqué. “I loved that it wasn’t “all white” and too simple but wasn’t all lace, it was a little bit of both and I have always been drawn to similar styles!” The slimline skirt flowed into an elegant train finished with matching wide hem lace and a sultry, sheer illusion back. “It was so comfortable and fitted like a glove! I definitely had plenty of compliments!”
The advice that our White Lily bride would offer to future brides is:
“Don’t sweat the small stuff! On the day when all your loved ones are there, the fact that the florist couldn’t use certain flowers or that your signage isn’t the correct font really doesn’t matter… you soon forget about all that!” She also recommends to “stop and take a moment to take it all in properly. It’s not every day you get married - enjoy it!”
The handy couple are looking forward to renovating a few more houses together and hopefully starting a family.
