A dreamy church location embellished with blush decor and mountains of love. Our White Lily bride Emily and husband Jacob couldn’t help but glow on their special day.
How it all began
Meeting your soulmate is something else. And sometimes the way it happens makes us think that it is truly meant to be. This week’s White Lily bride Emily and her now-husband Jacob’s love story began when Emily went to her Uni friend’s 18th birthday party, who also happened to be Jacob’s childhood best friend.
“The story of Jacob and I involves a lot of random coincidences that will make every skeptic believe that we were destined to be together.”
After attending the party, the Queensland couple discovered many more links and coincidences, which would have led Emily and Jacob to one another, sooner rather than later: “…that truly made us believed that God had back up plans if we didn’t hit it off that night.”
The Big Day
When Emily’s special day finally came around, she wanted to make sure that their wedding was filled with personal touches from both, bride and groom. Most importantly, Emily wanted that Jacob had a say in the planning process and was happy with how it all turned out “He also had full say over what the boys wore along with other things.” Teamwork makes the dream work!
The Most Precious Memories
Although our White Lily bride’s wedding day was filled with unforgettable moments, there was one memory that stood out to her. Jacob made Emily’s night by writing a song, just for her, and having their friend perform it during the couple’s first dance: “It was just such a special moment, one of those moments you see in movies. Its very different when you know they mean every word in the song as they wrote it as a love letter to you.” What can we say? We’re suckers for romance!
The Wedding Dress
Emily’s White Lily experience was special to her and special to us in many ways:
“I was only 4 days post-op and 2 days before the appointment I found out I had cancer. So it was a very big moment for me where I just wanted to feel beautiful and be happy for one day...and you guys provided that for me. They were very gentle in helping me get into the dresses and were patient with me. I am so grateful for you guys as you made it a truly enjoyable day where I could feel beautiful in the midst of everything that was going on. Thank you and thank you to my stylist with all of my heart.”
After starring at a photo for weeks, Emily came to our Brisbane boutique, thinking she wouldn’t ‘suit’ her dream wedding dress. However, when she finally saw the Pronovias gown in-store, she decided to put it on and was overwhelmed by its beauty. Emily knew straightaway that it was simply perfect: “It was the perfect combination of tradition and class due to the lace with a hint of sexy due to the fit. The train was my life along with the lace on the back. The hint of sparkly was enough to make me feel like a princess.”
Valuable Advice
There is no greater planning advice than from a bride who has just created the wedding of her dreams. Upon asking Emily what she advised future brides to focus on, she emphasised the importance of listening to what you and your partner want and staying firm, regardless of your guests' wishes: “… it's important to keep your focus on why you are having a wedding in the first place...to make that commitment and show your love for your partner to the world. If you keep that in the forefront of your mind when planning, the little things will not seem as important or stress-inducing.”
The Next Chapter
As a newlywed couple, Emily and Jacob are looking forward to exploring the world together. Among their many mountain bike adventures and ballet visits, the couple is also looking forward to doing mission work together to help others in need. What a great way to start off their new chapter, as husband and wife!
