Simone and Jeremy’s timeless and elegant wedding could have leapt straight out of the pages of Vogue. However, it wasn’t the details of the day, but the couple’s love and commitment that truly shone.
Their romance and courtship was what one might call a slow burn. It took almost a year after friending each other online to start their relationship. Simone recalls how they first came to meet”
“Way back in December 2016, I convinced my girlfriend Lucy to join me for a Friday afternoon wine at a local bar in Teneriffe, Sixes & Sevens, so I could vent about the string of dating disasters I’d had lately and that there didn’t seem to be any nice guys out there.
Before long Lucy and I had found ourselves talking to a group of guys, Jeremy arrived a bit later in the night to meet them as he was working late. He says he wanted to talk more to me, but apparently I was giving off a very strong ‘go away, not into you’ vibe. I also thought he was not interested. We went our separate ways that night with barely more than a few sentences exchanged.”
Clearly this wasn’t the case as things unfolded online!
“His friend sent me a FB friend request, and after accepting I flicked through his friends and Jeremy popped up. We became FB friends, and although it took a couple of messages from Jeremy (I forgot to reply - bad I know) we started talking. He was a very patient man, because it took 6 months to go on our first date, and it was 11 months after we first met that we started a relationship!”
Fast forward to 2019 and the couple began planning their wedding. They wanted to focus on creating a special day that reflected both of them as a couple and also wanted to ensure they had covered all their bases covering everything down to the very last detail.
“Our stunning venue Fins at Plantation House was a big part of bringing our vision for the day to life given its location, beautiful spaces and fine food.” Said Simone
We couldn’t help but sit back in awe as we clicked through Simone and Jeremy’s gallery. It was clear the beautiful styling and planning had taken place. A focus on crisp ivory and subtle neutrals lay at the heart of their modern elegant styling.
Simone fell in love in the boutique when she came across the Tatum gown by Australian designer, Zavana Couture. “I loved the mix of old & new Hollywood design.” She said of the full geometric beadwork of the gown. “It was comfortable to wear all day and night and I wish I could have worn it forever.”
She styled her fashion-forward wedding dress with hair in classic waves and bold statement pearl earrings. The bridal party matched perfectly with bridesmaids in light gold slip dresses and groomsmen in light beige suiting.
However for Simone, it wasn’t all of these gorgeous details that shone brightest – her most memorable part was the look on Jeremy’s face (get ready for immeasurable warm fuzzy feelings!).
“I will also never forget the elated smile that Jeremy had on his face all day when he looked at me as we had our photos together.
Another really special moment was just before sunset when we entered our reception, Jeremy was looking up at the sky and as he looked back down I noticed he was welling up (he will call it dust in his eye) and he said:
‘I can’t believe this day is here and I’ve married you, everything is perfect.’”
Could these two be any sweeter?
Although the onset of Covid19 has dashed their European honeymoon dreams for now, this hasn’t stopped their getaway plans. “We are now looking a couple of mini honeymoons around Australia, possibly North QLD or WA. Or we may wait until they open up travel to NZ or the Pacific Island region and head to Fiji or Cook Islands.”
Simone left us with her golden nuggets of wisdom for those in the midst of their wedding planning journey – and we suggest you take note!
- Don’t panic too much, it all comes together in the end anyway. Small things don’t really matter on the day.
- You can plan as much as you like, but sometimes the plan doesn’t come together so just go with it.
- Sounds cliché, but immerse yourself in experiencing every single second of your wedding day, it will go by in a blur.
- Remember it’s your day, so have the people, the food and the fun that you both love.
