Being married means “trusting and understanding that you both love each other so much that you’re ready to dedicate the rest of your lives to one another.” This week’s White Lily bride Shannen and now-husband Lincoln, recently tied the knot during their timeless, and minimalistic Sunshine Coast hinterland wedding at Maleny Manor. With a unique Martina Liana wedding dress, Shannen completely swept us off our feet and we are super excited to share their stunning images with the world.
Date or Proposal?
“Lincoln proposed - I went away for four weeks and he came down in week two. We are big on dates so I told him I was organising one, he said he was as well - so we made it a competition. He took me out on a speedboat in the Noosa River, pulled up to a gorgeous picnic on a little island and soon after popped the question! Worked very well in his favour, I thought he was just stepping up the date game so I have no idea! And yes, he won the competition…” To all of those wondering how they can get away with a surprise proposal, this is the way to go, folks!
A Custom Martina Liana Wedding Dress
Before we get into the wedding deets, let’s take a moment to appreciate Shannen’s simplistic, yet oh-so-glamorous wedding dress by Martina Liana. Martina Liana is one of our designers that allows us to make custom tweaks to the gown before placing our brides’ orders. Ultimately, this means you get a unique look without having to go fully custom: “…It ticked every box. Simple and elegant. It suited my personality very well, I’m quite a conserved person so having something so simple was amazing and I didn’t feel uncomfortable, yet in saying that the simplicity of the dress was what made it stand out!”
What made your White Lily Couture experience special for you?
“The girls! Each one of them were so wonderful and understanding. I had something very specific in mind and they literally turned my dreams into reality and jumped through hoops for me!”
A Simplistic, Elegant, and Intimate Wedding at Maleny Manor
With views of the stunning Sunshine Coast hinterland, simplistic decor is all that’s needed. Maleny Manor is one of those locations that really speaks for itself - it never disappoints! Endless mountain views, and golden hours as dreamy as ever, Maleny Manor was the perfect location to celebrate Shannen and Lincoln’s love with their nearest and dearest. Aiming for a laid back and fun atmosphere, the Brisbane couple’s wedding day was everything they had hoped for. From walking down the aisle and embracing each other’s emotions, to partying with their closest friends and family, Shannen and Lincoln were over the moon with how it all turned out.
Shannen’s Covid Wedding Advice
“When we used to think of weddings, we would think of excitement! And while it was still very exciting. I guess the constant uncertainty and changes really took that away and the closer it got, the more stress it caused because any day it could change…No matter what. Go with it. You can’t change what you can’t control. If it’s just you two, do it. If it’s only ten guests allowed, do it. The day will be incredible either way and you’ve waited so long for it. Look each other in the eye and remind yourselves why you’re getting married. Don’t let anything defeat you! Smile and enjoy every moment! Make the most of it, it’s not every day you get married.”
Nothing has Changed
Upon asking Shannen what her favourite thing about being married is, she says that she loves how nothing has changed: “We are back to our happy, crazy selves all settled back in at home and the best part about it is being able to call the man of my dreams my husband!”
