Kirsty and Jack’s Simplistic and Timeless Brisbane Wedding

Apparently, being a house captain can lead to much more than academic excellence. Who knew that your high school leadership skills could help you win over the love of your life? When Kirsty and Jack attended their joint leadership day for both of their schools, the two house captains hit it off immediately; it turns out the ‘L’ in leadership stands for love…

Modern, Black & White Wedding Decor

We wanted a style that we could look back on in 30-40 years’ time and still be impressed with the colours and the styling we chose – something really timeless.” Curating a day that reflects who you are as a couple, brings your wedding dreams to life, AND still is beautiful in 30-40 years when you look back and reminisce about the day is something far more difficult than you would think. Yet Kirsty and Jack’s wedding day was all of the above. Coordinated by the talented Tiana from The Other Bridesmaid, the Brisbane couple’s ceremony took place in the intimate walls at The Little Flower Church Kedron and was later on celebrated at Hillstone St. Lucia: “Tiana was an absolute gem on the day of the wedding and everything went without a hiccup.  Their decor choices of white florals paired with a black and white tablescape were timeless and yet beautifully modern. The magic was captured by Gold Coast wedding photographer Kirk Willcox and Sunny Day Films: “Kirk and Simao have provided us with everlasting memories of our day, so we couldn’t have done without them either!

What was the most memorable part of your wedding day?

The most memorable part was in the middle of the reception, Jack and I took a few moments outside to just look back and take the whole day in. There’s barely a moment to stop during the day so this was really memorable.

    A Timeless Mikado Wedding Dress

Kirsty’s simplistic theme continued when shopping for her wedding dress in our Brisbane bridal boutique. Not only did Kirsty fall in love with the pockets of her SEDNA gown by Pronovias, but she also loved how it combined simplistic yet dramatic elements. The thick and luxurious mikado fabric paired with the asymmetrical off-the-shoulder feature stole Kirsty’s heart.

What made your White Lily Couture experience special for you?

"I loved WLC. From the moment I walked through the door I felt really important and the girls did an amazing job to pick out styles that they thought I would look good in. I really appreciated all their advice."

    Never-Ending Covid Wedding Trouble

If you told us in March 2020 that we would still be so heavily affected by Covid over a year and a half later, we would have told you that you are crazy. Yet, here we are! All brides who are currently planning their wedding or recently celebrated their special day know exactly how much of an emotional rollercoaster Covid has been and still is. Watching the news in the morning and hoping for positive change has become second nature and we all can’t wait for the world to open up again.

When Kirsty and Jack got the news that their interstate guests wouldn’t be able to attend, the Brisbane couple was devastated, to say the least. However, as many of you would know, we have learned to love the power of FaceTime and live-streams: “We live-streamed to those guests who were unable to make it and this was so worth it just for them to be involved too. If I could give one piece of advice it would be to hold off as long as possible before you change your plans – I could have decided too early to postpone and our event could have gone ahead anyway and that would have been devastating!

    Lifetime of Memories

With all of their wedding planning stress in the past, Kirsty and Jack are now beyond excited for what their joint future holds: “My favourite thing about being married is that I now have a lifetime of memories that I get to share with a really special person in my life – and I can’t wait to do that.”

Complete the sentence: Being married means that we are a team and are committed to making sure we are kinder, more humble and giving.
