For Julia and James, their Walkabout Creek wedding was all about both family and fun. A day meant for joy and celebration and not sweating the small stuff.
The two had known each other for about a year before they even began dating. They crossed paths at work, where they were both disability support workers.
When planning their wedding at Walkabout Creek, the inseparable duo want nothing more than to enjoy the process and to ensure that both of their families were a part of their big day. This even included the pint-sized bridal party member, Chihuahua - Bo who was dressed to impress for the big day too!
James and Julia’s wedding was nothing short of stunning, with swathes of pink draped across the ceremony space and bridesmaids in matching pink dresses. The groomsmen each wore a navy suit with white shirts left unbuttoned at the neck and a boutonniere of dried flowers. Julia’s good friend, Kat actually flew up from Melbourne and spent two days crafting each bouquet and the entire floral collection for their wedding! Each posy featured a mix of pinks and more muted, earthy tones in roses, orchids, peonies and dried flowers.
Julia’s gown suited the setup perfectly. Our White Lily bride absolutely rocked her strapless mermaid wedding dress. Livie by Enzoani features a vine-like ivory lace trickling over a nude lining and a breathtaking bombshell mermaid tulle flare at the bottom. “I loved how it accentuated my figure, and made such a beautiful silhouette.” She said of her dream dress.
Our beautiful bride’s favourite part of the day was their post-ceremony photo session with Kerri McAuley Photography. “I loved going off and doing the photos after the ceremony, it was just a lot of fun!” She said of the experience. She also thoroughly enjoyed the speeches on the night. “I’m so glad we got them filmed!”
The advice she would offer to brides-to-be would be to, “Take your time to consider everything and shop around until you feel 100% certain with what you are choosing.” There’s no need to be rushed into decisions you aren’t comfortable with.
Our loved-up newlyweds are looking forward to travelling together. Julia will soon be jetting off with James to visit her hometown of Johannesburg. “I’m looking forward to… him seeing where I grew up and meeting my extended family.” Said Julia.
