Every great love story has a beginning, and theirs started in the most modern of ways: on Hinge back in 2022. James made the first move and planned their first date, and just like that, they have been perfectly inseparable ever since.
They say opposites attract, and for this couple, it’s the main ingredient in their success. Codi is the one on edge, and James is the easy-going, balancing force. His calm nature complements Codi's perfectly, making their life together work so seamlessly.
The Most Romantic Morning: The Proposal
For their second anniversary James organised a truly unforgettable day for Codi. It started with a spectacular hot air balloon ride, followed by a visit to O'Reilly's Vineyard in Mt Tamborine to walk the alpacas and enjoy wine for breakfast. It was there, amidst the rustic charm and good wine, that James asked Codi to be his wife.
The engagement was just under a year, and Codi and James tied the knot shortly after their third anniversary at the magical Victoria Park.
A Night of Nature & Elegance
When it came to choosing their venue, the couple was focused on a few key things: they wanted lush greenery, but needed a location close to the city for all their interstate guests. Codi also dreamed of an elegant reception, preferably one with twinkling chandeliers. Victoria Park checked every single box, offering the perfect blend of nature crossed with ballroom.
Their wedding style was described as elegant yet extravagant. The stunning green fields provided a breathtaking backdrop that made their photos truly magical. They celebrated with 80 of their nearest and dearest friends and family, and the day was perfect.
Tip for Future Couples: They recommend doing whatever you want (within your budget)! Codi and James chose stunning, real-touch faux flowers, which saved them a significant amount of money. This allowed them to splurge on an open-air photo booth, faux cherry blossom trees, light-up letters, and sparklers that made the atmosphere absolutely beautiful.
Finding "The One": Codi's Dream Gown, Inez
Codi's dress journey started at White Lily, and while it was initially overwhelming, having her mum and closest friends there made it so enjoyable. The team was incredible and made the entire process smooth, leading her to her dream gown.
Codi knew she had found "The One" with Inez when she unexpectedly got emotional. The dress was everything she had imagined: sophisticated and princess-y, complete with beading, sparkles, embroidery, and a beautiful ball gown silhouette.
Initially, Codi was drawn to a different style, but a wonderful White Lily staff member brought in Inez by Martina Liana. On the hanger, Codi didn't love what she saw! But once she tried her on, the basque waist elongated her torso and gave her the perfect hourglass figure. Seeing the dazzling sparkles and the elegant V-cut down the front, she was completely in love.
Advice for Future Fiancés: Codi suggests trusting the professionals and trying on the dresses they recommend, as you might be completely surprised by the gown that was meant for you.
The Best Day of Their Lives
Despite a few minor logistical hiccups, the day itself was absolutely magical. Codi and James were incredibly lucky with the weather; major storms hit right before and right after the ceremony, but the sun shone just for them, leaving the fields vibrant and green for their photos.
The absolute best thing about their special day was hearing James’s vows. They were so thoughtful, heartfelt, and truly blew everyone away.
Codi walked down the aisle to a beautiful cover of "Can't Help Falling In Love" by Haley Reinhart, and their first dance as husband and wife was to "Butterflies" by Max. Every moment was a dream come true.
A New Chapter
They didn't take a honeymoon, because the Thursday after they said "I do," they bought their dream family home! Codi and James are now officially moving into their new house, ready to start the next exciting chapter of their lives together.
Being married, the couple believes, means choosing to love and be with someone for who they are, then sticking by them through all the ups and downs life brings.
