Meeting at just 15 years old, Cassie and Blake shared in a beautiful day full of love 11 years later, where they sealed the deal in a vineyard wedding in Port Macquarie.
Cassie and Blake were fortunate enough to wed on March 21, a day prior to the new laws and restrictions coming into place in light of the current global pandemic.
Meeting through a friend on a beach trip as teenagers, the couple are impressed they can still stand each other 11 years later. “As soon as I got home from the beach that day I had a MySpace add and he liked every single one of my photos,” Cassie said.
Planning their wedding, the most important thing was to enjoy the journey the not the destination. “Because we had such a long engagement it was all I talked and thought about, but also made sure I enjoyed and treasured every planning moment,” she said, “do you!”
Both Cassie and Blake share in the most memorable part of their day being the ceremony. “It was so raw and we were both crying, emotions were high but it was just so lovely,” she said, “the second most memorable is dancing until late.”
Cassie recalls her visit to White Lily to find her wedding dress as a dream that was meant to be. Wearing the Linwood gown by Enzoani Trunk show, her whimsical dress did all the talking. “It fit like it was made just for me,” she said, “I loved the plain design down the bottom with the stunning detail all on the bodice.”
“It was comfortable and I wasn’t afraid to dance in it, and Blake said it suited me,” she recalls.
When asked what advice she was offer to couple who are preparing for their wedding she said:
“Remember the day is about you two only; not about the cake, not about the food or who has to pay for alcohol, it’s about you two and coming together with your love. It doesn’t matter if it’s rain hail or shine it’ll be the best day of your life. In the lead up really take some time for yourselves! Get a few days off before the wedding. Blake also says to leave time to plan and save, there is no need to rush it.”
The couple were meant to embark on their honeymoon in early April, however with the current circumstances worldwide they have had to postpone to October. “We don’t mind as we now have something extra to look forward to,” she said, “we are still keeping a week in April and will hopefully head somewhere hinterland.”
When looking into their future together, Cassie and Blake see a beautiful future with their dog Luna, but also with an addition one day, and a lot more travelling with the aim to go somewhere once a year. “Right now we are going to enjoy this time and continue our little family bubble as the Mckenzie’s, who knows what lies ahead and that is the beauty of it!”
