Here at White Lily, we love a good destination wedding, and Amelia and Nathan's Hawaiian wedding did not disappoint! Bathed in sunlight and blessed with amazing weather, the newlyweds and their guests were treated to a day full of love, beautiful Hawaiian tradition and celebration.
Amelia and Nathan's story began all the way back in high school! Partnered together on a project as wee teenagers in grade eight, the unstoppable pair fell into step with ease.
"We were polar opposites - Nathan super quiet and shy and me super dramatic and over the top, but somehow we just clicked." Says Amelia.
Since high school the pair began travelling the world together before getting engaged while tripping through Thailand. They now also own a home together with their special fur babies, Simba the ginger cat and slinky the mini dachshund.
The couple decided to jet off to Hawaii with an intimate group of friends and family to tie the knot. The ceremony was steeped in beautiful Hawaiian wedding traditions and customs, which added another layer of beauty to their special day, as well as extra fun for their guests!
"At the ceremony the rings were blessed with Hawaiian waters and we each exchanged traditional leis." Explains Amelia.
"My centre pieces at the reception sat in fresh pineapples instead of vases. Guests got to experience making leis out of fresh flowers and made fish out of palm fronds. We all watched a traditional luau show with fire throwing and hula dancing whilst drinking fresh pina coladas."
Our beautiful bride opted for the gorgeous beaded ballgown, Mariela from fashion-forward design house, Enzoani. The glimmering beading of the bodice was perfect for catching the Hawaiian light. This gown features a full tulle skirt and luxe low-back detail. Amelia absolutely loved the detail of the gown and how it made her feel.
"I loved the blush undertone in the sunlight, the detail in the beading and feeling like a princess every time I put the gown on. White Lily made picking the perfect dress super easy and exciting. " She says.
Feeling like a princess, Amelia couldn't wait to see her soon-to-be husband at the altar. She pinpointed this moment has her favourite part of the whole day.
"I loved seeing Nathan’s face as I walked down the aisle. Even though I was suppose to walk super slow I just could not get there fast enough to start our new journey together!" Says Amelia.
The newlyweds followed their ceremony with an evening of dancing and celebration at Sunset Cove before jetting off on their honeymoon through Waikiki, San Francisco, Orlando and LA!
When asked for her advice for future brides, Amelia offered two very sage pieces of wisdom for brides-to-be:
"Don’t be afraid to ask for what you really want! It’s your day and the guests are happy to just see you happy! And don’t forget to eat breakfast/lunch on the big day, so your stomach doesn’t rumble at the ceremony!"
