This week’s wedding blog is a little different since we won’t be featuring one but two of our White Lily Brides. Although it was a sheer coincidence that both Seana and Karla found their dream dress at White Lily on separate occasions, we can’t help but pat our backs for making sure Karla wouldn’t see Seana’s chosen one when touring our bridal gallery during her appointment. But before we get into the dress details, let’s go back to when it all started.
Who Proposed and How
After swiping right on Tinder back in 2018, it didn’t take long for this week’s White Lily brides to realise that they were the ones for each other: “There may or may not still be some disagreement that Karla left Seana on reading for at least 24 hours but it obviously has all turned out ok since then!” That ol’ trick! 2 years and one-hundred screenshots of Karla’s dream ring later, Seana finally proposed to the love of her life. The well-thought-out proposal was initially going to take place at a sunset picnic, however, due to the weather, Seana shifted her plans by recreating their first date. Starting with dinner at 1889 Enotecca, then moving on to the Emporium Piano bar for cocktails, to finally popping the question: “When Karla needed to use the restroom, I raced up to the room to grab the Engagement Pack and messaged Karla to meet me at our favourite picnic spot (which turned out to be perfect picnic weather for the evening after all). I got down on one knee after telling Karla I knew from our first date that she was absolutely perfect for me and never knew that a love like this existed. Karla’s first words were “how’d you get my ring?!” but eventually managed to say “yes” through her never-ending happy tears. She could not believe that she was now wearing her dream ring and that the many screenshots sent through to me had finally paid off.” Moral of the story: sending screenshots isn’t a complete waste of time!
A Dream Wedding in Brisbane City
“Lots.Of.Spreadsheets.” was the answer we got from Seana and Karla upon asking the two to describe their wedding planning process in three words. Being organised definitely paid off, as the Brisbane couple managed to pull off the most incredible day. Starting with their dream ceremony at the Warehouse Brisbane, followed by a photo session through Brisbane city with a quick stop at Messina (would be rude not to), to then dancing the night away during their reception: “We honestly think our wedding day was perfect and a big part of this was because of our wonderful wedding co-ordinator, Bianca. She was made for this job, she is friendly, a great communicator, and is always in control, and plans one step ahead. Bianca and her assistant, Laura, were always making sure we were happy and had everything we needed. They went out of their way to clean Karla’s dress after she spilled chocolate ice cream and insisted on cleaning our feet after our stroll through the valley for our post-ceremony photoshoot.” Scrolling through their photos had us wishing we could have been part of the day. Seriously though, Karla and Seana’s special moments were all captured in the most beautiful way: “In the months before the wedding Ash got to know us well and we felt at ease in her company which made the wedding day photo vibe feel so relaxed and comfortable. We have lost count of the number of times we have viewed our gallery and the amount of compliments we have received about the way she captured our wedding day and us so effortlessly.”
What is the favourite memory of your special day?
“We both agree that our favourite part of the day was our bride reveal that we planned to have together prior to the ceremony. We’d spent all morning getting ready with butterflies in our stomachs eagerly awaiting the moment we would finally see each other in our wedding dresses. Karla tapped me on the shoulder and when I turned around to see my absolutely stunning soon-to-be wife, I burst into tears. It was a special moment that we had together away from all the busyness of the day, and it is a moment we always look back on fondly.”
Is there anything you would do differently if you could go back in time?
“If we could go back, we would try and focus more on enjoying the process of planning and not just being focused on the end product. If you try and make the day ‘perfect’, you won’t be able to take a step back and enjoy the day.”
The Dresses
The beauty of having two brides is that it’s double the fun for us! Seana visited us first and fell in love with her off-the-shoulder Rosa Clara gown. Knowing that Karla would visit our boutique at a later date, she asked us to make sure her fiancé wouldn’t see her dress when touring our gallery: “…the ladies went the extra mile and made notes all over their system and pulled the dress from the floor so there was no chance of Karla seeing her dress.” By coincidence, Karla chose a dress that complimented Seana’s pick beautifully. A-line FRESCO by Essense of Australia was the first gown Karla tried on and she instantly fell in love. “We were both lucky enough to have Lisa as our helpful and knowledgeable stylist. Lisa gave us plenty of time to gather the styles we wanted to try on and she took the time to discuss each dress with us. It was a coincidence that we both got our dresses from White Lily at our initial appointments, however, we were both very excited in the days leading up to our appointments as we have heard lots of brides rave about the store and had seen on Instagram the wide range of dresses that they stock.”
Complete the sentence: being married means that you wake up and go to sleep every day knowing that you are so lucky to have found your soulmate who you get to share the rest of your life making memories with.
