Couture Contrast

This creative collaboration highlights the juxtaposition of the luxurious fabrics and cuts of couture bridal gowns with exposed wooden floorboards and white-washed bricks in a loft-style setting - a couture contrast. The idea was to base this styled shoot on a chic, high-end wedding aesthetic and contrast this with a sharp, edgy vibe. Essentially ‘done’ - yet ‘undone.’

Minimalism has been well covered in recent seasons, however, this creation from the hearts of a group of stylish creatives offers an authentic and artistic take on the theme with a touch of dark romance and drama.

The bright white walls and lovely pale wooden floors of Brisbane’s Metro Arts Theatre acted as the perfect backdrop for the beautifully crafted couture bridal wear. Sophisticated White Lily Couture gowns from bridal design powerhouses such as Pronovias Atelier, Made with Love Bridal and Nicole Spose ensured the look was undoubtedly modern. Amanda from Peppermint Photography’s keen eye for light and shadow created a stunning series of images with a rich, moody feel. Her raw, poetic, fine-art approach to photography resulted in a collaboration made in heaven!

A minimalist colour palette and styling allowed the key elements to shine through in their divine simplicity. Decadent floral arrangements by Wild at Heart Flowers showcased a cacophony of blooms against a bare canvas. The installations featured bountiful raw florals of lush dark green foliage with pops of deep plum wild peonies and roses. The abundant nature of the arrangements offered a sense of luxe sophistication.

Meanwhile, our stunning models had hair and makeup by Kate Devlin. Kate worked her magic on this beautiful duo with bold smokey eyes with nude lips to add a touch of grittiness to the luxe, polished nature of the gowns.
