What started as a 2am meet in Brisbane's Fortitude Valley, soon became the love story of Cherise and Nick. Exactly two years and two months after being together, the gorgeous couple tied the knot at Sirromet Winery. Not even the rain could dampen the spirits of these two lovebirds who took the overcast weather in their stride! But before we talk about the wedding, let's find out how a night in the valley turned into the beginning of the rest of their lives.
How They Met
Cherise and Nick met in the most romantic way...2am in the middle of Fortitude Valley. Cherise was heading to a gig she was meant to attend with her sister, but last minute her sister couldn't go. Cherise ended up bringing a co-worker who spotted Nick - an an old family friend - as they were walking to the car.
"I remember telling her ‘I want that one please!’ as we walked away, he seemed so honest and sweet...and now here we are!"
The Proposal and Engagement
Cherise and Nick did things a little differently and booked their venue -
Sirromet Winery - before they were engaged! It was only a 7 month turnaround between engagement to ceremony, but they had the venue booked 6 months before that.
"We knew we wanted the date as soon as we saw it. We realised we would have been together officially 2 years and 2 months on the 22nd of February 2022 – 22.2.22 - so we had to grab it before it booked out!" Cherise said the proposal itself was still a surprise, with Nick getting down on one knee on a beautiful sunny day in Wellington Point over a gorgeous picnic.
Style and Theme
Cherise couldn't have spoken more highly of her vendors.
"Our celebrant Clarah was an absolute delight, I would recommend her to every couple." Despite having some rain on the day, Cherise praised their
photographer Aleisha, who took the most beautiful photos and was super adaptable. A special mention has to go to
hairstylist Jo who created curls that held up against the less than ideal weather too! Cherise also raved about
Brisbane Spray Tan who gave her the best tan she's ever had.
Saying Yes to the Dress!
Cherise wore the stunning
SCARLETT by
Hera Couture. "I’d seen my Hera Couture gown online a few months before a Trunk Show came at just the right time to White Lily. I knew it was the one when I put it on and saw that it represented not only my personal style, but also my vision for the wedding." Cherise wanted something simple but eye-catching and with a statement neckline.
SCARLETT delivered. In terms of how she felt throughout the bridal shopping process, Cherise was so generous with her kind feedback of
White Lily. "The store is just beautiful and the staff make you feel at home from the moment you step in. Their experience with all the different styles of gowns was invaluable. I felt supported and guided while making such an important decision."
Favourite Memory
"My favourite memory is standing at the end of the alter, looking into Nick’s eyes as we read out our vows. Second to this would have to be walking onto the dance floor as our first dance song ‘At Last’ by Etta James was sung by the magical Elevation Band. I’ve never heard such a beautiful voice in my life, and I couldn’t wipe the smile off my face!"
Advice for Future Brides
Unfortunately for our beautiful bride, it started raining as soon as she arrived to the ceremony! "Looking back, I would tell myself to stress less and take it all in, everything will be fine, even the muddy dress!" Cherise would recommend one crucial thing to future brides - stress less! "Don't stress over how everything will come together. Plan what you can (order umbrellas in advance if there’s a chance of rain!) then let it all unfold."
Complete this sentence: being married means...
"Building a life with your best friend and making the commitment to honour each other every day."
