The next step after finding your dream dress is to organise a seamstress for your gown’s alterations – and for our Rockhampton girls, Professionally Fitted provides high quality alterations for any gown!
Terri from Professionally Fitted shares her top tips and alterations knowledge to help you get the perfect fitted gown ready for your big day.
Fitting appointment and time frame:
As making alterations to a gown can be very time consuming to make it perfect, it’s best to allow half an hour to an hour for each fitting. As the wedding season approaches you will need to be organised in advance by allowing 6-8 weeks booking time, and a minimum of 2 weeks gown time. It is also vital to keep well hydrated before your fitting as you are standing for most of the duration of the appointment. Specific to Professionally Fitted, all gowns must be brought in a garment bag and on a hanger.
What is required for a fitting appointment?
To have a true fitting appointment you are required to bring:
- Shoes (your actual wedding shoes)
- Your chosen underwear (preferably not cotton)
- Veil (on final fitting)
- Jewellery (on final fitting)
Only bring a couple of people with you as your gown now will be fully pressed. It is strongly suggested that no children attend the final fitting. This is to keep the gown clean and untouched, and to keep curious fingers away from pins and delicate lace.
What can be done in alterations?
At Professionally Fitted, Terri can do pretty much any type of alterations from bust adjustments, hem’s, straps to sleeves, lace and beading.
Terri is Strictly Only Bridal & Formal Wear.
