This week’s White Lily bride Megan and now-husband Nathan’s love story goes back to when they were both working at the same car dealership. After hundreds of work-related phone calls, Megan finally slipped into Nathan’s emails and the rest is history: “It all kicked off one day when Nathan didn't answer his phone for the first time and I had to take a message and send it to Nathan via email... I was cheeky and put a little message at the end and it all began after that.”
Who Proposed and How?
This is probably one of our favourite questions! Who doesn’t love a great proposal story, especially when plans don’t work out and things get creative? Nathan originally planned to propose at a dinner in Sydney as the couple was on a family cruise at the time. Unfortunately, things didn’t go to plan and Nathan had to start brainstorming whilst on the cruise. After a failed second attempt, Nathan eventually managed to organise a sunrise breakfast at their very last stop on Isle of pines. Pretending to get drone footage of the two of them having breakfast, Nathan took the opportunity to get down on one knee: “…like a deer in headlights she told me to F** off and then just stood there for about 2 minutes in complete shock and many tears were flowing (happy tears) until I eventually said "Soo is that a yes?" when I finally got a response, Megan said YES YES YES! Most of the proposal was caught on camera and on film, and we both could not wipe the smiles off our faces."
Wedding Styling and Theme
“The style of our wedding was countryside wedding full of elegance and romance. I loved the classic romantic wedding look and style but we also love the outdoors and animals. Cowbell Creek was the perfect venue for us as it was outdoors with the most amazing views in the hinterland and some pretty amazing animals such as Alpacas, Horses, Highland cows, and sooo much more! The styling that I chose for the day was very much so modern romance and was the exact look and vibe I wanted. “
Favourite Wedding Day Memory
“Favourite memory of my day was definitely walking down the aisle and seeing my handsome husband standing there waiting for me, as soon as I saw him and his big cheesy smile it completely calmed my nerves. The ceremony was our favourite memory of the day – it was the most amazing ceremony and it just felt like the two of us, despite the 75 guests who were there watching us. I couldn’t take my eyes off Nathan and in that moment I just felt completely and utterly happy and blessed to be marrying such a perfect man. At the end of the day after photos before going into the reception, we took 10 minutes out to ourselves to have a drink with each other and take everything all in we couldn’t believe how fast the day had gone already, this was pretty special to just have a moment with each other away from everyone.”
Vendors
Upon asking Megan for her favourite wedding vendors, she responded with “every single one.” So here is what she had to say:
Photographer: Figtree Pictures - “Our photographers from figtree pictures were INCREDIBLE, so easy going and so lovely to have with us on our day and we never felt like our photos were too posed or fake it was really natural.”
Videographer: Stories By Jess - “Our videographer Stories by Jess was amazing, she felt like a lifelong friend – she was also so easy going, calm and nice to have around on the day. Both photographer & videographer captured so many special moments and for this, we will always be forever grateful for our photographers and videographer.”
MUA: JDolls & Hair: Sarah Neill Hair - “My makeup artist JDolls (Janise Chan) & Sarah Neill Hair were AMAZING. I don’t even know where to begin with them both, they were so easygoing on the day and kept me calm throughout the morning. They made all my bridesmaids look and feel amazing and they made me feel like an absolute princess, nothing was too much for them on the day which meant a lot to me.”
Florist: Moon Bloom & Co - “Nicola is beyond amazing and my goodness she created some magic in my florals! They were more than I was expecting and when I saw how the ceremony area and reception came together with all the florals I was completely and utterly blown away. When Nicola came to drop off our bouquets and flowers on the morning of the wedding she was so friendly and warm and I could not be any more grateful for having such a beautiful, calm and relaxed florist who created such beautiful flowers for my special day.”
Pet Assistant: First Class Pet Wedding Assistants - “First Class Pet Wedding Assistants were also incredible, it meant the world to us having our two fur babies Luna & Luka part of our day and the two ladies from First Class Pet Wedding Assistants went above and beyond and were so good with our fur babies and took such good care of them.”
The Dress
Megan fell in love with TULLEY by Martina Liana and it is not at all what she had in mind before coming to our boutique. After trying on a few styles she had saved to her Pinterest board, Megan was about ready to give up. But then she tried on the very last dress: “The last dress (number 8) was the dress that my lovely White Lily stylist had picked for me, and I remember I looked at the dress and thought to myself “this dress isn’t for me, it’s got too much lace and too much going on” but I was here and I thought why not try it on. So I put the dress on and as soon as I pulled up the dress and zipped the back I had tears in my eyes, I couldn’t believe how perfect the dress was. I felt like an absolute princess INSTANTLY. I remember walking out from behind the curtains and my mum and maid of honour just started crying when they saw me in the dress. Then I started crying! I just knew I had found the one. It felt perfect, it had an amazing wow factor with the most incredible train and low back which is the exact style I wanted. I was completely and utterly shocked as it was the last dress I was trying on and I wasn’t even going to try it on! But I am so glad I did.”
What made your White Lily bridal experience special for you?
“My experience with White Lily Bridal was amazing right from the start, everyone was friendly and welcoming from the moment you entered the store! The complimentary champagne was a really nice touch and it was extra special to be able to have my mum and MOH there with me even during peak COVID times. My stylist was so easygoing and helpful and went above and beyond to ensure I felt like a princess and found my dream dress. My dress arrived earlier than anticipated which was sooo exciting and I couldn’t wipe the smile off my face when leaving the store with my dream dress in hand. I can’t thank everyone from White Lily enough, for going above and beyond and making the experience for me perfect and something I will remember forever.”
Megan’s Advice to Future Brides
“Stay calm and be as organised as you can be as this will make everything on the day 100x easier. On the day just be present in the moment and take it all in… If things don’t go to plan exactly how you had imagined them, don’t dwell on it just think of an alternative and move on and remember WHY it’s your wedding day… because you are marrying the love of your life and that is the only thing that should matter. It is truly an amazing day and when the day comes it really does exceed all your expectations but it does go SO fast and it's over within a blink of an eye so take it all in and try to remember the special parts of the day as the day goes on. Most importantly, HAVE FUN! Let your hair down at the end of the day and celebrate your love for one another with all your closest friends and family there.”
Complete the sentence: being married means A life-long commitment to my best friend and love of my life. To me, it is the beginning of a new chapter and the beginning of the rest of our lives together. Being married means having trust in one another, supporting each other through all the good and the bad times, and always having each other’s back. Loving each other unconditionally is what means the most to me. Love is such a beautiful thing and something that I will always cherish.
