One thing is for sure: A dress with wings calls for a whimsical wedding! This week’s White Lily bride Laura fell in love with Zavana Couture’s August gown, and we couldn’t be more excited about the photos from her special day. Set within the beautiful winery of Hampton Estate, this week’s real couple Laura and Matt’s wedding day was uniquely beautiful.
“He was actually meant to propose in Port Douglas; he had organised a helicopter to land on a private beach off Cairns and pop the question there. However, two weeks before we were meant to go he was just being really weird and said how it would be ”the best day of our lives” then he said “why don’t you get your nails done” – ( I have always told him I better not have crappy nails when he proposed) I instantly was like omg, you’re proposing! And he was like “What no! That’s so obvious.” So he went into panic mode and that Friday organised a last-minute trip to Noosa…Long story short we ended up going and staying in this overpriced room during the middle of school holidays… He had a picnic set up for the Saturday on top of a hill at Coolum. Matt has always been a romantic so I didn’t think it was that weird as I was certain he was proposing the following week. I looked so bad and hadn’t washed my hair for a week and he was all dressed up. When we got to the picnic it had a little Tepee tent and was just the cutest thing ever, he pretty much proposed straight away. I was in shock and the ring was just the most stunning thing, he had it custom-made and designed it himself. He also had a photographer set up to capture it all. Although I looked terrible and my nails weren’t done, it was perfect. We still did the helicopter the following week, just as a newly engaged couple and it couldn’t have been more perfect.”
Describe Your Wedding In 3 Words: Fun, Rewarding, Expensive
Hampton Estate Winery is one of those locations that has it all, from tropical palm trees to breathtaking views and picture-perfect golden hours. Styled by Rose Wood Creations and adorned with the most beautiful white orchids and blush roses by Tiana Dixon Floral Designs, Laura and Matt’s special day was every romantic bride’s dream.
“The whole day feels like a blur, and it really is true what they say, that it is over before you know it… I was just really trying hard to completely soak up every moment as I knew it would go fast. Getting ready with life-long friends just felt surreal that it was actually our wedding day and being surrounded by everyone you love. My favourite moment though was walking down the aisle to Matt. He was crying and it was just a feeling of pure love and bliss that I can’t describe. Like everything you dream of as a little girl is coming to life!”
Dress Talk – Finding ‘The One’
Everyone who has been following White Lily for a while knows that we absolutely love our August gown by Zavana Couture. With wings like no other and unique glimmer tulle, this mermaid gown is a real showstopper: “I knew I wanted something a little bit different and had gone in for a few consults but I was set on a strapless gown. No one could tell me otherwise like I was wearing a strapless gown down that aisle. I had a few consults both at White Lily and other places and although I liked a lot, nothing felt quite right for me. I went back to White Lily and my beautiful stylist had myself, my bridesmaid, and herself pick a gown. I of course picked the strapless gown, my bridesmaids one with spaghetti sleeves and the stylist had chosen a champagne Zavana Couture dress with straps and ‘wings’.
Honestly, when I first looked at it I was like what the hell is this? This is nothing like what I wanted. To get it over and done with, I just tried it on because I didn’t want to be rude. When I put that gown on and looked at myself, something just clicked and it was the weirdest feeling as it was everything I thought I didn’t want. When my Mum and bridesmaids saw me we all were just like omg this is it. I was still hesitant although I knew it flattered me the best of any gown I had put on. I tried the other strapless gowns I originally thought I would want and my head just kept going back to the Zavana dress, when she told me it also came in Ivory I just knew that was my dress. The total opposite of what I had imagined. It could not have been better for me, it has the sparkle and lace and the ‘wings’ that I haven’t seen before. I truly think all the stars aligned that day and I am so thankful for my stylist for choosing it and changing my mind!” Moral of the story: trust your stylist.
What made your White Lily bridal experience special for you?
“All the girls were so patient and friendly. They also really know how to get you out of your comfort zone. If I ever had an issue they were straight onto it. I can truly say in my opinion it’s the best bridal shop in Brisbane! I went to a few and it just never had the same vibe. The dresses are all stunning too which made things difficult but I loved having so many options.”
