Kayla & Shane - A Modern Chic Summergrove Estate Wedding

We LOVE hearing our brides' love stories, especially ones that involve major coincidences, which is why hearing how White Lily bride Kayla met her now-husband Shane definitely hit the spot for us. Initially meeting during their schoolies in 2009, their love story didn’t continue until eight years later, when the couple randomly ran into each other on a night out: “We were then inseparable ever since.” A few years, and one postponed wedding later (thanks to Mr. Covid) Kayla and Shane finally became husband and wife during their dream wedding at Summergrove Estate.

    The Proposal

On our first date Shane took me to Marina Mirage beach on the Gold Coast for a sunset picnic and a helicopter ride. When he proposed he took me to the same spot with a beautiful picnic arranged, my favourite wine and told me he was recording the sunset so that he could record the proposal. He waited until the sun was setting with the most beautiful sun set. He got down on one knee to ask me to marry him while our favourite Vance Joy song ‘I’m with you’ played. Shane knew I would want to look my best when I got engaged so he told me to dress up as we would be going to a dinner after our picnic. He booked a restaurant at Marina mirage for afterwards to celebrate the engagement.

A Modern Chic Summergrove Estate Wedding

Aiming for a traditional and neutral colour palette, Kayla and Shane’s special day was adorned with luscious orchids that were featured all throughout the day. Whites mixed with blush accents created the perfect soft feel for Kayla’s elegant and chic wedding day at Summergrove Estate. Ivy and Bleu styled their venue to perfection and brought the Brisbane couple’s vision to life: “They were AMAZING. I met with them a few times and went back and forth through email several times as they work to such a high standard and ensure their client is 100% happy with every detail big or small. They brought our vision to life plus more.”

    Wedding Day Memories

All thanks to Roost Film Co and FLORIN LANE Photography, we were able to see how it all came together. Captured in the most beautiful way, Kayla and Shane’s wedding images and video will be cherished for a long time: “Our videographer was also a stand-out supplier. She was extremely friendly and professional. She was particularly organised right from when we booked her. She has great communication skills and produced the most amazing film at such a reasonable price. A video we will continue to watch over and over again to re-live the day.“

One of Kayla’s favourite memories of the day was walking down the aisle to the song Shane had proposed to her: “Not a dry eye in the room which I loved. It was such a special moment and I could feel all the love. I am not the center of attention type of girl so having all eyes on me for once was so nerve-racking but heartwarming. Having everyone who means something to us in the one place, here for us was something I’ll never forget.“

What Did You Love Most About Your White Lily Couture Wedding Dress?

EVERYTHING! The NOLEN gown by Enzoani had been saved in my phone for months. When I researched and found White Lily Stocked the brand, I couldn’t have been more happy and booked an appointment that week. I hadn’t been to any other dress stores to try on wedding dresses. It was the first one I tried on. The train is show-stopping and the fit was so flattering on my body. The unlined lace on the bust was a beautiful detail. I had so many compliments from both females and males about how stunning and elegant it is. It is very clear that it is a high-end dress by every little detail.

What Made Your White Lily Couture Experience Special For You?

The ladies in store were BEYOND helpful. They spoke with such grace and softness to make the experience calming and they genuinely shared in the excitement of the dress fitting and finding ‘the one’. They didn’t put any pressure on me whatsoever and were very patient as I went back and forth trying on dresses and re-trying them on. They made me feel extremely comfortable when helping me into the gowns. Ringing the bell is such a sweet gesture and makes buying the dress that little bit more special.”

    Real Bride Wedding Advice

Who doesn’t love a bit of actionable advice? Especially, when it comes to planning one of the biggest days in your life. Upon asking Kayla for her number one tip for future brides, she emphasises the importance of fully embracing your engagement: “Take time to soak in all the love that come with being engaged. It is such an extraordinary time that you’ll cherish forever. I would recommend having a lengthy engagement to ensure plans aren’t rushed and you have time to organise everything you want in your budget. Allowing extra time is also beneficial as you can save money to pay for those special added details.” YES! Take it all in, as much as getting married is a one-time thing, being engaged is also something that you won’t be doing again; so, embrace the pre-wedding bubble and soak it up.

Kayla also recommends staying on top of your planning by having a planner or folder, which includes vendors and suppliers you have contacted and their quotes: ”This will also help you keep on top of payments and track what is left to pay so that you are keeping an eye on your budget.” As lovers of stationery, we could not back this tip enough!

    From Ms. To Mrs.

After planning such an incredible wedding in the middle of a global pandemic, Kayla and Shane couldn’t be happier that they don’t have to worry about any lockdowns “ruining” their wedding anymore. The Brisbane couple is now fully focused on their future as wife and husband: “It feels unreal making the transition from saying ‘boyfriend’ to ‘husband’. What an incredible milestone.”
Complete the sentence: Being married means committing to your best friend for life. Knowing this person will always have your back to speak highly of you and make you laugh. Knowing that your love will never dilute even when the water gets deep.
