A champagne fountain, a gorgeous barn, and a dress that took everyone’s breath away. This week’s White Lily bride Gretel and Matt’s special day was modern and elegant with timeless elements, creating the most special look for Gretel’s big day.
It’s a Love Story…
It was their shared passion for fitness that initially brought Gretel and now-husband Matt together. The gym gods worked their magic and paired the two lovebirds up for a drill. Luckily, they picked up on the hint and the couple soon realised that their story was meant to go much further than Gretel and Matt first thought when they got to the gym that day. Fast-forward to a few years later, Matt finally proposed to Gretel in their home: “I was working at my desk one morning, still in my PJs, having a coffee and Matt left to go to Bunnings to buy a hose reel, then came home with a diamond and a bunch of flowers. I was completely taken off guard!” We would pick an engagement ring over a rose reel, any day!
Gretel was aiming for a glamorous and modern day that was filled with timeless and monochrome elements. From ceremony through to reception, their wedding styling was flawlessly beautiful. With playful elements like their champagne fountain and Margarita van, Gretel and Matt created the most fitting combination between modern and traditional. Their reception decor was kept simple yet thoughtful and built the perfect contrast to their carefully selected blush, white, and beige floral arrangements by Florals & Co. Captured by Common Studios and Phoebe Galloway, Gretel and Matt’s day was everything they had hoped for. One of Gretel’s favourite memories was when she walked down the aisle to see Matt waiting for her “It was the most incredible moment. And of course, when my Dad saw me before we left for the Ceremony. That was pretty damn special too.”
Just Enjoy The Process
With Gretel’s special day flying past so quickly, she appeals to all future brides to take it all in and to thoroughly enjoy and embrace every part of it: “Don’t let the little things overwhelm you, remember it’s meant to be fun. You only get to do it once, so just enjoy the process. Everybody will have opinions, that’s just a given, but stick to your guns and plan a celebration that is uniquely reflective of you and your partner, and the love you share. You definitely won’t regret that.“
What a Dress!
Upon visiting our Brisbane bridal boutique, Gretel fell in love with Sedna by Pronovias. With modern asymmetrical features, this timeless mikado gown is everything and more: “I loved how great I felt in it, how sophisticated yet elegant it was. I feel as though I will still love it in 20 years as much as I do now.” Not only did she love the dress, but Gretel was also over the moon with her White Lily experience: “We loved being looked after by Lisa. She was super aware of what I did and didn’t feel good in and helped with lots of different options to suit my figure. I had my mum join me, with my bridesmaids and my sister-in-law, which was super fun.”
Gretel & Matt’s Future
Working in the wedding industry herself, Gretel is now excited to focus on her other weddings: “For the moment we’re enjoying the fact that we’re no longer planning our own and we’re very much looking forward to some of our friends’ upcoming weddings as guests.”
