Megan and Paul’s Chic and Intimate Farm Wedding

It was a gorgeous day in Queensland’s Southern Downs Region when Megan and Paul’s nearest and dearest came together to celebrate the couple’s bond for life. Surrounded by apple trees and stone fruit orchards, this week’s White Lily bride Megan and now-husband Paul finally said their I dos on Paul’s family farm in Pozieres.

“You don’t know how many times I had to swipe left to find you.”

To all of those who are in doubt of Tinder’s true match-making skills, have a little faith! The dating app can in fact work its love magic, as proven by this week’s White Lily couple. After initially meeting on the dating app, Paul soon won over Megan’s heart by impressing her with his cooking skills during their first dinner date. A few years later, Paul went from swiping right to getting down on one knee: “Paul proposed to me with a picnic in a flowering pear orchard on his family’s farm where we live in Pozieres. He wanted to propose on our holiday to Scotland which was meant to be June 2020 but had to make a backup plan!

Wedding Style and Favourite Vendors

Paul’s family farm and parents’ garden were the perfect canvas for the couple’s laid-back wedding style. Aiming for a relaxed and intimate wedding theme, Megan and Paul wanted to add a chic element by requesting formal attire and elegant decor.  Dainty tulips and grand floral arrangements with pink and warm burnt orange tones tied in perfectly with the family property’s luscious surroundings. With views of their private dam, Megan and Paul couldn’t have picked a more romantic place to say their vows.

I think our photographer stood out - we are so happy with our photos and she was so helpful and easy-going on the day. Our band was also absolutely fantastic - they hit the nail on the head and we have not stopped getting compliments on how great the music was. Our florists were also just so helpful and went above and beyond with their creations for the day, including transporting so many flowers and decorations from Brisbane and staying over the night before to complete all the prep. Our hair, makeup, and caterers were absolutely fantastic as well - I so enjoyed the morning with Katrina and Lisa and so did the girls.”

The Erin Clare Bridal Wedding Dress

Erin Clare Bridal’s timeless beauty TILLY was the perfect gown for Megan’s special day: “I felt like my gown was really ‘me’ - my husband would describe my style as ‘classic’ and ’timeless’ and I feel my wedding dress definitely suited me! I felt like the best version of myself and it was so comfortable to spend all day in as well.

What made your White Lily Couture experience special for you?

“I came in on a weekday with just my maid of honour and the store was very quiet. I loved this as I don’t really enjoy being the centre of attention! So to just have my bestie and a consultant was really relaxing.

Covid Strikes Again

“We were missing about 35 guests due to them not being allowed into Qld from Victoria and NSW - unfortunately, this included three out of five of Paul’s groomsmen which was devastating for us. However, we made a pact early on to push ahead even if restricted in some way. The boys made up for their absence by sending video speeches which were shown at the reception, and that absolutely made our day. I would say to other brides to just roll with the punches, but do what is right for you - if postponing feels right, do that. If going ahead with a smaller number is seeming likely, the people who have to miss out will understand if they really love you.

Favourite Wedding Memories

Despite the pandemic, Megan and Paul were able to create memories the Queensland couple will cherish for life. Looking back at their special day,  there are a few moments that stood out to our White Lily bride in particular: “The weather was fantastic, although the day started out very gloomy, windy and cold! It cleared so nicely for the ceremony and the rest of the day was perfect. Seeing family and friends all together and having a great time was such a joy. Once our dance floor started it didn’t stop! The pumping dance floor is a great memory from our day.
